The Lore is our storied vacuum tube headphone amplifier, long regarded for its musicality, craftsmanship, and timeless design. Doubling as a low-power speaker amplifier, it brings exceptional flexibility to any listening space. Inspired by classic tube designs of the 1950s through the 1970s, each amplifier is meticulously hand-wired using premium components, an external power supply, military-grade switches for lasting reliability and exceptional performance.
Rooted in classic tube topology and refined through decades of listening, Lore delivers warmth, depth, and presence in equal measure. Handcrafted with premium components and carefully selected tubes, it offers a sound that feels alive, personal, and deeply connected to the artist.
Note: The Dual-Mono power supply includes a JLP-07 power cord. The Solid-State Power Supply does not include 5AR4 or OC3 P.S. tubes. If you have any questions about choosing a power supply, we're happy to help.

Heritage components, built
for the long run.
Our amp uses a 12AU7 tube gain stage to drive a pair of 25L6 tubes in push-pull per channel, delivering ample power for nearly any headphone and will even drive a pair of high-efficiency speakers meant for a desktop system. Four direct transformer output impedances ensure optimal matching for 8 Ω speakers, standard headphones (8–32 Ω), and high-impedance headphones (128–300 Ω).

01. Point-to-Point
Every Coffman Labs amplifier is meticulously hand-wired in our lab using carefully selected premium components and precision assembly techniques. We believe every solder joint, each wire route, and all component placements contribute to long-term reliability, serviceability, and electrical performance. No digital components or circuit boards are used in our vacuum tube amplifiers. Each amplifier is individually assembled, inspected, tested, and auditioned before leaving our laboratory, reflecting our uncompromising commitment to engineering excellence.
02. Golden Age of Analog Audio
Drawing upon the timeless design philosophies and proven amplifier topologies of the 1950s, '60s, and '70s, we honor the engineering innovations that defined the golden age of analog audio. Rather than simply recreating vintage designs, we thoughtfully refine and advance them using carefully selected components, meticulous craftsmanship, and decades of experience. The result is an amplifier that captures the musicality, realism, and emotional engagement that made these classic circuits legendary while faithfully reproducing today's finest analog and high-resolution digital recordings.
03. Vacuum Tubes
For more than a century, vacuum tubes have remained the reference standard for musical reproduction. At Coffman Labs, we source exceptional New Old Stock (N.O.S.) tubes from around the world. Every tube is individually characterized using the industry renowned Röhrentest tube analyzer and verified on a Tektronix 576 Curve Tracer, enabling us to evaluate its true electrical characteristics, not merely whether it passes a conventional emission or mutual-conductance test. Only those that satisfy our exacting standards are carefully selected, matched, and finally auditioned by ear in our finished amplifiers.
04. Authentic Performance
The finest audio equipment should never impose its own character upon the music. Instead, it should disappear entirely, allowing the artistry, emotion, and atmosphere of the original performance to emerge with complete naturalness.
