LORE is a vacuum tube headphone amplifier that also functions as a low power speaker amplifier, thus providing great flexibility in limited spaces. It was created as a heritage piece— something that can last for decades. Some of the parts (like the switches) are sourced from military aircraft, made to withstand high stress. All the external case and knobs parts are custom-made only for our products.

A TRULY UNIQUE PRODUCT
- LORE is a tube-based analog headphone amplifier. It is powered by two pairs of 25L6 tubes in push-pull mode driven by one pair of 12AU7s. All tubes are sourced by Coffman Audio Labs© N.O.S. and matched for each amplifier.
- LORE standard external power supply is solid-state.
- LORE has an upgrade option for a dual mono (2) 5AR4 tube rectified (2) OC3 / VR105 voltage-regulated power supply— thus allowing for the best possible sound. This upgrade includes a JenaLabs© 716 Power Cord and high-quality fuses (2) 1 spare.
- LORE is hand-assembled entirely in the U.S.A. at Coffman Audio Labs.
- LORE is electrically rugged and meant to last.
- LORE chassis is 100% machined (not stamped metal) and can take abuse.
- LORE chassis parts are interlocked in specially designed machined slots so that only four bolts per side are required to keep the structure intact.
- LORE external casework, knobs, footers, base rings, and tube shields are locally machined only for our products.
- LORE internal wiring for the audio signal is high-quality 18AWG and 22AWG UltraWire© directly from JenaLabs©.
- LORE has high-quality Cardas© Binding Posts, Neutrik© RCA and XLR4 connectors, and Military N.O.S. Switches.
- LORE components include Vishay©, Belton©, Russain N.O.S. P.I.O. Capacitors, and custom-designed transformers specifically for our products.
- LORE contact points are mechanical as well as electrical.
- LORE is entirely point-to-point wired with high-quality Cardas© solder and phenolic terminal strips— it should last decades.
Operation
Coffman Labs' LORE uses a 12AU7 tube gain stage to drive a pair of 25L6 tubes in push-pull mode. This provides more power than is needed for almost all headphones and can easily drive high-efficiency speakers with 2 watts. Four separate output impedances are provided to match listening equipment, including speakers @ 8 ohms, standard headphones and In-Ear Monitors @ 8-32 ohms, and high-impedance headphones @ 128-300 ohms.

LORE H2-A has its roots in previous versions of the headphone amplifier. The H1-A and The Prautes are excellent legacy products. The H1-A was Coffman Labs' initial and first production version; then, The Prautes was brought to market by Cypher Labs and Coffman Labs in 2015. The H2-A "LORE" takes things to the next level, doubling the power of the previous version and moving to an external power supply with two optional versions: the standard solidstate, which comes with the unit at its base price, or the upgraded dual mono tube rectified 5AR4 and voltage-regulated OC3 / VR105. If you’ve heard The H1-A or The Prautes, LORE will not disappoint. Today, LORE and other products in the works are produced in collaboration between Joe Goodman and Damon Coffman under COFFMAN AUDIO LABS, bringing together two people with advanced technology expertise and audio passion. The goal: unlock an unsurpassed listening experience for the audio customer.
